Damishi Sango, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau state, who was abducted in Kaduna state on Thursday, has regained freedom.
His release comes less than 24 hours after ex-President Goodluck Jonathan appealed to security agencies to ensure the release of Sango, who was kidnapped alongside his son and three other people, in the Jere area of Kaduna state.
The suspected kidnappers had contacted the family of Sango to demand a ransom of N100 million.
On Sunday, John Akans, spokesman of the PDP in Plateau, said Sango and the other captives had been freed.

He said the suspected kidnappers released the victims unconditionally because Plateau PDP could not afford the ransom.
Akans did not go into details of how they were released but said they were at a private residence in Abuja.
Sango served as a minister of sports under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
