The management of Plateau United, a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, says the entire team will henceforth be placed on half salary following their abysmal start to the 2020/21 season.
Plateau United were dealt a 2-0 win by Kwara United at the new Jos Stadium on Sunday.
The Afonja Warriors scored two quick second-half goals through Jide Fatokun and Michael Ohanu in the 62nd and 67th minutes to snatch a victory.

The NPFL club took to its Twitter page on Monday to announce the new development.

“Plateau United Football Club has placed the entire team on half salary following their poor start to the NPFL after going down 2-nil to Kwara United in Jos,” it wrote.
“The General Manager of the Club, Pius Henwan gave the directive while addressing players and coaches of the team.”
The 2019/20 NPFL league champions were knocked-out by Simba FC of Tanzania in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on December 5.
The Abdu Maikaba’s boys failed to surmount the 1-0 goal deficit handed to them by the Tanzanian side.
