Players, officials injured as ABS FC team bus collides with truck

The damaged team bus of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC after colliding with a truck along Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway

Players and officials of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC have been involved in a road accident along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway. 

In a statement by Michael Tosh, the club’s media director, the accident happened on Monday when the team was returning to Ilorin after its Nigeria National League (NNL) match away at Sporting Lagos a day before.

He added that the team’s bus collided with a truck en route to the club’s base.

Micheal added that there was no casualty from the incident, but a few players and officials suffered minor injuries, and the team bus was damaged.

“A delegation of club officials, led by Director of Football Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, quickly responded to the incident and provided transportation to move the players from the scene to Ilorin,” the statement reads.

“Medical attention was also provided to those with minor injuries.

“The club has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern and support from stakeholders following the incident.

“As ABS FC prepares to host Solution FC from Anambra in Ilorin this weekend, the technical crew and medical officials will assess the team’s readiness and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and successful match.”

ABS FC lost their game against Sporting Lagos 1-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena and are ninth on the Conference C table of the Nigerian second division.
