Buhari summons FEC meeting ahead budget presentation

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned a meeting of the federal executive (FEC) council for Friday.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, confirmed the meeting to TheCable, saying it could not hold on Wednesday because of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) summit.

Buhari hosted the 48th ordinary session of the summit of heads of state and government in Abuja on Wednesday.

Adesina did not go into details about the meeting but it is expected that the presentation of N6.07 trillion 2016 budget to a joint session of the national assembly, would feature at the meeting.

At its last meeting, FEC approved the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, which was sent to the national assembly.

The sen‎ate approved the MTEF and retained the $38 oil benchmark for the budget as proposed by the federal government.

Buhari had earlier hosted lawmaker of both chambers of the assembly at the presidential villa.
