Police arraign man for ‘stealing N1.2m from deceased’s bank account’ in Oyo

A man identified as John Timothy has been arraigned for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.2 million from the bank account of a late person.

NAN reports that the suspect was arraigned before the Iyaganku magistrates’ court, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The suspect who pleaded not guilty is facing charges bordering on conspiracy and theft.

During the trial, Olalekan Adegbite, the prosecutor, said the suspect committed the offence between May 17, 2021 and July 21, 2021.

Adegbite said the offence contravenes sections 516 and 390(9) of the criminal laws of Oyo state, 2000.

He said the suspect stole the money from the Access bank account of one Johnson David who is dead.

The alleged theft was discovered by one Daniel David, son of the deceased.

Oluwabusayo Osho, the magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case until May 7 for hearing.
