Osun state police command has arraigned five persons before a magistrate court in the state for allegedly causing chaos and disrupting the All Progressives Congress (APC) factional meeting in Ikirun.
According to reports, the Aregbesola faction of the APC was attacked by hoodlums on Tuesday in Ikirun where they were holding a meeting beside Ifelodun LGA council secretariat.
Those arrested are Akinlade Abayomi, Atitebi Sodiq, Azeez Adejimi, Alatayo Seun Solomon, and Siju Oyewumi.
According to the charge sheet, they were alleged to have “conspired among yourselves to commit felony to wit: attempted murder and unlawful society and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002”.

The APC faction expressed displeasure over the arrest of the suspects describing them as its members.
According to Abiodun Agboola, factional publicity secretary, none of the thugs has been apprehended.

“We regret to note that it is our members that they can arrest at midnight when we have formally written the command, with audio/video evidence that the governor Oyetola’s IleriOluwa group have concluded plans to attack all of our events,” Agboola said.
“We note with sadness that the police like it has done before in the case of “Osun APC 7”, prefers to obey unlawful orders from governor Oyetola’s men for political reasons rather than its constitutional roles. This injustice will continue to lead Nigeria into blind alleys.
“It is unfortunate that governor Oyetola is gradually taking Osun to an undemocratic and dictatorial level where the police are used to muzzle the public for political gain.
“We note that those who threaded this path never ended well as the people are sufficiently dynamic to know how to respond to brutal treatment from a wicked ruler.

“The latest shenanigans in Osun on Wednesday is that after APC members in the Rasak Salinsile-led faction were attacked in Ikirun on Tuesday and many old men and women were wounded, the government of Oyetola has caused the police to arrest party members and arraigned them before a magistrate court in Osogbo and they were summarily remanded in prison in Ilesa with the case adjourned till February 26.
“It should be noted that none of the thugs who attacked the meeting of the faction in Ikirun on Tuesday has been arrested.
“This has been the trend. The thugs who attacked our members in Ife till date have not been arrested.
“Let it be known that Governor Oyetola is himself leading the assault against members of his own party.”
