The police command in Nasarawa says 18 suspected kidnappers and seven rapists were arrested across LGAs in the state between August and September.
Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson of the command, who paraded the suspects on Friday, in Lafia, the state capital, said four suspected cultists were also arrested.
Nansel said most of the suspects have confessed to committing the crimes and are helping the police in the investigation.
He added that the investigation had led to the discovery of the suspects’ hideouts in Wassa village, Sanga LGA in Kaduna, where arms were recovered.

“On 24/08/2023, I paraded one Bawa Adamu 35yrs and Amadu Buba 25yrs who were arrested while planning to purchase more ammunition and one locally fabricated gun was recovered from them as exhibit; on 18/09/2023 while carrying out further investigation into the case, the suspects took the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit to their hideout located at Wassa village, Sanga LGA of Kaduna State where one AK47 rifle and six rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition that was carefully concealed in the forest were recovered as exhibits,” Nansel said.
“In continuation of the onslaught against all criminals in the State, on 31/08/2023 operatives of the Command trailed and arrested three (3) men of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of kidnapping in Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Kokona LGA namely: Ogani Dauda 25yrs, Hamisu Ibrahim 28yrs and Ishaku Alhaji Ruwa 28 yrs.

In total, Nansel said within the months under review, the command recovered four firearms, 11 ammunition and a vehicle.
