The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the police command in Lagos have raided criminal hideouts at Ojota area of the state and arrested 26 suspects in the process.
In a statement on Saturday, the command said the suspects were arrested at 11.38 p.m. on Thursday.
The command added that during the operation, two robbery victims were rescued from their abductors.
The police said after due screening of the suspects by Olayinka Egbeyemi, the RRS commander, 16 of the suspects were released to their relatives, while 10 suspects would be charged to court.

Egbeyemi said the squad will sustain its surveillance, adding that the operatives of the RRS will not stop protecting lives and properties in the state.
“The operatives of RRS combing Olusosun, Ojota, uncompleted buildings in Otedola Bridge and Kurata, all notorious for being criminals’ dens, arrested 26 suspects at MKO Garden, Ojota,” the command wrote on X.
“The arrest is sequel to the directive of the Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade to Commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to step up surveillance and arrest criminals in some black spots within the metropolis.”

In January, the police arrested a suspected kingpin of a child trafficking and labour syndicate in the state.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, told journalists that the suspect was arrested after three months of intelligence gathering.
He added that the syndicate brings in under-aged children from northern states to Lagos for child labour and other illegal activities.
