The Kano police command has arrested Abdulmajid Danbilki, popularly known as “commander”, for allegedly making comments capable of inciting violence, during a radio programme.
The popular APC supporter had called on Kano residents to resist any attempts by the state government to re-organise the emirate councils in the state.
Hussaini Gumel, Kano commissioner of police, on Wednesday, said commander has been arraigned and remanded at a correctional facility.
He said the accused would remain at the correctional facility till February 6 when his bail application would be heard by the magistrate’s court.

Gumel said Danbiliki’s action was capable of inciting violence in parts of the state or attracting massive counter-protests that might lead to loss of lives and property.
The commissioner said having profiled Danbilki, he was found to have repeatedly used the same radio programme to disseminate and record hate speech on various social and conventional media channels, as a money-making venture.
The police commissioner urged Kano residents to “quietly ignore the subversive content”.

“All we want from members of the public is to keep volunteering information to the nearest security outfits for prompt and necessary action,” NAN quoted Gumel as saying.
“The police would remain committed to fighting crime and providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy in all parts of Kano State.”
