The Yobe police command says it has arrested a suspected bandit kingpin in Ngalda, Fika LGA of the state.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dungus Abdulkarim, police spokesperson in Yobe, said a locally made pistol and three cartridges were recovered during the arrest.
Abdulkarim added that the kingpin’s arrest was sequel to a robbery at Ngalda market which resulted in seven fatalities and 11 injuries.
“On January 20, 2025, at approximately 2100hrs, a group of six armed robbers attacked three shops at Ngalda market,” the police spokesperson said.

“The incident resulted in seven fatalities and eleven injuries. The robbers made off with approximately N16,500,000.”
The spokesman said angry local residents overpowered three attackers, while three others escaped with injuries, adding that victims were taken for medical treatment and corpses for autopsy at the General Hospital in Fika.
Garba Ahmed, police commissioner in Yobe, has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident, while calling for patience among residents.

The spokesperson added that Ahmed also directed the personnel to arrest fleeing syndicate members and urged the public to assist the command with credible information.
