Police arrest eight suspects for ‘robbery, kidnapping’ in Kaduna

The police command in Kaduna has arrested eight suspects for alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery in the state.

In a statement on Thursday, Mansur Hassan, the spokesperson of the command, said operatives of the divisional headquarters in Maigana arrested the suspects on November 17.

He said the suspects were arrested during a raid of their hideout at Nuba farm in Farin Kasa of Soba LGA.

Hassan said a preliminary investigation showed that the suspects aged between 20 and 27, were responsible for the abduction of one Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai which happened on August 25.

“Their gang leader in Farin Kasa village is at large though trailed. All the suspects will have their day in court after investigation,” he said.

Hassan said Musa Garba, the commissioner of police in the state, has asked officers of the force to be more circumspect during the holiday season.

He noted that “criminal elements are on the prowl to unduly meet up with the demand of the festive period”.

Meanwhile, on November 15, police rescued three kidnap victims at Kidandan village in Giwa LGA of the state.
