Police arrest ‘ex-convict’ while ‘attempting to steal passerby’s phone’ in Lagos

The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested a suspected traffic robber in the Ketu area of the state.

In a statement on Thursday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday while attempting to dispossess a passerby of his mobile phone.

Hundeyin said 29-year-old Hakeem Badamosi, an ex-convict, was arrested by men of the rapid response squad (RRS).

The police spokesperson said Badamosi, who was armed with a machete and charms, tried to flee upon seeing the officers but was rounded up with the assistance of residents.

“Two suspected vandals, Jeremiah Odika’m’ aged 20 and Aaron Gabbis ‘m’ aged 19, were arrested in the Alausa Business District, Ikeja, in the act of removing a road signpost,” the statement reads.

“All suspects have been charged in court.”
