Police in Ogun state have arrested Wale Adedayo, the impeached chairman of Ijebu-east LGA.
On September 14, Adedayo was impeached by five out of 11 members of the LGA’s legislative chamber over allegations of financial misappropriation and diversion of funds.
According to NAN, Kafayat Adedayo, the wife of the erstwhile LG chairman, confirmed that her husband was arrested on Monday by police officers from the command headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta.
She said the officers informed her that his arrest was based on a petition written against him by the state government.

The following day, Adedayo was invited, and detained by the Department of Security Services (DSS).
He was released after spending four days in detention following the allegations he made against the governor.
In a meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Ijebu-east LGA on September 19, Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, said he would ensure that Adedayo was held accountable for his words.
