The Kano police command says its operatives have arrested five suspects over their alleged involvement in the murder of a housewife in the state.
Speaking with journalists on Monday, Sama’ila Dikko, commissioner of police in the state, said the victim, identified as Rukayya Mustapha, was murdered at her residence in Danbare area of Kumbotso LGA.
Dikko said the 21-year-old woman was reportedly found dead by Jamilu Abdulkadir, her husband, when he returned home around 9pm on Saturday.
According to him, the two children of the deceased were also said to have been beaten by the attackers.

“We will make sure, sincerely and honestly, the right thing is done and the culprits are brought to book,” he said.
While on a condolence visit to the home of the deceased, Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, represented by Nasir Gawuna, his deputy, commiserated with the family and assured them that the criminals would be brought to book.
According to Gawuna, the governor had directed security agencies to ensure proper investigation into the case.

“Upon hearing the case, we discussed at length with the executive governor even though he’s not in town. He was really worried. The security outfits in the state have already swung into action even before the instruction of the governor,” he said.
“We are not going to leave any stone unturned about this issue and this has even opened other issues for us to indulge in when it comes to similar issues. We’ll redouble efforts to make sure that such an occurrence does not occur again.”
