Police arrest five suspects for ‘attacking’ judge over land dispute in Gombe

The police command in Gombe has arrested five suspects for allegedly attacking Ayuba Buba, the judge of the upper area court in the state.

On November 4, some persons attacked Buba alongside a court official and lawyer at Degri, Balanga LGA of Gombe state.

According to the police, the victims came to the community to make findings about issues regarding a land dispute when they were attacked by the suspects.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Gombe had condemned the attack.

Parading the suspects on Friday, Mahid Abubakar, Gombe police spokesperson, said the suspects conspired to attack the victims with offensive weapons.

“The judge, registrar, and one other person sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical attention,” the police spokesperson said.

“Later on, five suspects in respect of the said crime, namely: Abubakar Dunda, 50 years old; Adamu Umaru Dunda, 54 years old; Hamman Umaru Dunda, 42 years old; Nuhu Dunda, 35 years old; Alhassan Dunda, 39 years old; and Tukur Dauda, aged 40 years of Degri village, Balanga LGA, were arrested. Umar and other accomplices allegedly conspired and attacked the team.”

Abubakar warned that the command would not tolerate any attempt to breach public peace.
