Police arrest ‘four bandits’ in Kano, recover weapons

Operatives of the Kano police command have reportedly arrested four suspected bandits in the state.

Citing intelligence sources, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the police recovered a cache of weapons and wads of cash from the suspects.

The publication added that three police officers, acting on credible intelligence, conducted the operation on Thursday.

“Operation led by the Officer-in-Charge of Jarkuka Outpost, Mariri Division, resulted in the arrest of the following suspects: Shukurana Salihu, 25, from Katsina State, Rabi’u Dahiru, 35, from Katsina State, Ya’u Idris, 30, from Katsina State and Muktar Sani, from Yandodo Hotoro Quarters, Kano State,” the source said.

The suspects were found in possession of three locally made revolver pistols, two cutlasses, twelve rounds of live ammunition of various calibre, three cartridges, four knives, four mobile phones, twenty-four pellets, and a vigilante group identity card.

The command also arrested three suspected car thieves, and recovered two stolen vehicles in a separate operation.

The source said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects will be charged upon completion of the process.
