Police arrest four suspects collecting ransom for kidnappers in Delta

The Delta police command says its operatives have arrested four suspects receiving ransom on behalf of kidnappers in the state.

Edafe Bright, police spokesperson in Delta, who paraded the suspects in Asaba, the state capital, on Wednesday, said they usually use their bank accounts to receive ransom from victims.

Bright said the suspects would take 15 percent of the ransom and send the balance to the account provided by the kidnappers.

“The suspects were receiving kidnapping ransom money with their accounts, taking 15 percent and withdrawing the balance 85 percent via POS and giving to the kidnappers in cash,” the Delta police spokesperson said.
