The Imo police command says four suspects linked to the killing of Stanley Nwoke, the youth leader-elect of Umusi-Olokwa in Owerri-west LGA, have been arrested.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson in Imo, said Nwoke was killed on Saturday evening by some unidentified gunmen.
Okoye said a faction led by Chinaza NNwachukwu was suspected to be behind the attack that resulted in Nwoke’s death.
The police spokesperson noted that the assailants also torched nine houses, and injured the late Nwoke’s four siblings.

“The commissioner of police, Imo state command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has condemned the gruesome murder of Stanley Nwoke, the youth leader-elect of Umusi/Olokwa community in Owerri west LGA,” the statement reads.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the violence erupted over a youth election held on 3rd January 2025, after Nwoke was declared the winner.
“A faction allegedly led by Chinaza Nwachukwu and others, who are currently at large, is suspected to be behind the attack.

“Additionally, the deceased’s body has been deposited at the morgue, and the injured victims are receiving medical care in the hospital.
“The Imo state police command remains committed to the safety of all residents. The public is encouraged to provide credible information that can aid the ongoing investigation.”
Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police in the state, commiserated with the deceased’s and vowed that the command would ensure that justice is served.
