The Taraba police command says its operatives have arrested Aliyu Muhammed, a suspected kidnapper, at the Jalingo-Yola bypass in the state.

Joseph Eribo, the commissioner of police in the state, said this on Wednesday in Jalingo.

Eribo added that the 35-year-old suspect from Mubi, was arrested on Tuesday in a Toyota car with registration number YLA 321 ZY by mobile police officers.

He said the sum of N8.5 million in cash, N4 million in the bank, seven mobile phones, N3,000 MTN recharge card, and seven amulets, were recovered from Muhammed’s vehicle.

He said the suspect tried to bribe the security personnel before his arrest.

“Immediately police started searching the vehicle, two of the suspects jumped out of the car and ran into the bush,” Eribo said.

“The suspect tried to bribe the PMF team, requested them to take the whole money and allow him to go but the team refused and arrested him accordingly.
