Police arrest ‘kidnapper’, recover pistol in Delta

The Delta police command says it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered a Beretta pistol in Uwagba, Okpe LGA of the state.

Bright Edafe, police spokesperson in the state, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists in Warri.

Edafe said the suspect, popularly known  as ‘small juju’, was also a member of a cult group.

He said the suspect was arrested on Friday by the command’s special squad in Ughelli.

“Acting on information by some of the suspects earlier arrested in connection with kidnapping and cultism by the command’s special squad deployed to Ughelli,” Edafe said.

“On May 24, the special team led by ASP Robinson trailed and arrested a suspect simply identified as ‘small Juju’ aged (34) at his residence in Okpe LGA.

“One Beretta pistol was recovered from his house and investigation further revealed that he is a member of Eiye confraternity.”

The police spokesperson added that the suspect also confessed to having acquired the weapon from a suspected gun-runner currently in police custody.

Edafe added that the command has intensified efforts to arrest other members of the gang.
