Police arrest man for ‘abducting 10-year-old girl’ in Kaduna

The Kaduna police command says one Aminu Garba has been arrested for allegedly abducting a 10-year-old girl at Unguwar Gara village in Kauru LGA of the state.

Speaking on the abduction on Tuesday, Mansir Hassan, Kaduna police spokesperson, said Hanifa Garba, the victim, was reported missing at about 2 pm on Saturday.

Hassan said the case was reported at the command by one Uwaila Idris, mother of the girl.

“She came to the police station and reported that on April 26, at about 1300hrs, one Aminu Garba of the same address allegedly abducted her 10-year-old daughter named Hanifa Garba in his shop,” NAN quoted Hassan as saying.

He said the suspect denied seeing the girl when asked, adding that he hid Hanifa inside a refrigerator in his shop.

“The suspect denied seeing her and went back to his shop, covered the girl’s mouth with Hijab (veil) and forced her into a refrigerator and padlocked her inside,” he added.

“The youths in the area insisted on searching the shop, after which Hanifa was found locked inside the refrigerator.

“The suspect was immediately arrested, while  investigation is ongoing to establish the real motive behind the suspect’s action.”

The police spokesperson added that the suspect will be arraigned after completion of investigation.
