Police arrest man for ‘beating wife to death over Ramadan food’ in Bauchi

The Bauchi police command says it has arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly beating his wife to death in the Fadaman-Mada area of the state.

In a statement on Sunday, Ahmed Wakil, the police spokesperson, said the suspect hit the victim, who was his second wife, with a cane during a disagreement over food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking the Ramadan fast.

“Reports indicate that the argument escalated, leading to the husband allegedly striking his wife with a cane,” the statement reads.

“She reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness within their home.”
