The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested one Ifeanyi Okonkwo for allegedly stealing a phone in an eatery in Alausa, Ikeja.
In a post on its X page on Monday, the command said the suspect had visited the restaurant on November 7 to purchase food but ended up stealing a Samsung A15 belonging to another customer.
The command said men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended Okonkwo on December 5 at the same eatery.
“The suspect was at the restaurant to purchase food but ended up stealing the phone belonging to another customer,” the post reads.

“Unknown to him, he was captured on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) while taking the phone on the counter.
“Not realising that people were on the lookout for him, he was at the same restaurant on Dec. 5 where he was spotted and promptly apprehended by RRS operatives near the scene.”
The RRS said operatives have recovered the stolen phone from the buyer, adding that the suspect has been charged to court.
