Police arrest ‘members of gang terrorising residents’ in Kaduna

The Kaduna police command says three suspected members of a criminal gang have been arrested for terrorising residents of Basawa village in Sabon Gari area of the state.

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, Mansur Hassan, police spokesperson in Kaduna, said the suspects were apprehended at about 4 pm on Tuesday.

Hassan said the officers conducted a search on the suspects and recovered “three sharp stainless cutlasses and one fork sharp knife” hidden under their clothes.

He said during interrogation, the suspects were unable to explain why they had the weapons in their possession.

“At about 1600hrs, when the operatives were on routine patrol and arrested the three suspects namely, Shamsu Abdullahi, Hussaini Aliyu, and Muhammad Ahmed all of Zaria city, and within the vicinity of Mammy Market in the Basawa area,” NAN quoted Hassan as saying.

He said the suspects were also notorious for terrorising residents in communities near Busawa.

The police spokesperson added that the suspects have been charged to court.
