The police command in Ogun says it has arrested one Adeyemi Babatunde, a 26-year-old man, for allegedly killing Obafunsho Ismail, a 46-year-old.
According to the police, the suspect used his car to run over the deceased during an argument on Tuesday.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun police spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, said the argument started after Babatunde used his car to hit that of Ismail, which damaged the rear light of the car.
Afterwards, the deceased reportedly approached Babatunde and asked him to come down from his car to assess the damage done.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspect refused to come down from his car and attempted to flee from the scene.
However, the deceased was said to have sat on the bonnet of the suspect’s car in order to prevent him from leaving.
“The suspect, Adeyemi Babatunde, later came down and warned the deceased to leave the bonnet of his car if he didn’t want to waste his life,” the statement reads.

“Not satisfied, the suspect also reversed the vehicle and ran over the deceased again to ensure that he actually died. After completing the act, he ran away with the vehicle.
“He was later traced to his father’s house at Kemta Idi Aba area of Abeokuta where he was arrested by men of state motor traffic division, on the 20th of December, 2022. The vehicle he used to commit the crime was recovered to the station as well.
“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation department for further investigation and prosecution.”
