The police command in Yobe says its operatives have arrested six suspects for “shoplifting, theft, criminal trespass, and burglary” in Damaturu, the state’s capital.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dungus Abdulkarim, the command’s spokesperson, said Garba Ahmed, the commissioner of police in Yobe, ordered a crackdown on the suspects after reports from residents of the state capital.
“On 10 November 2024, police received a distress call from Mal. Musa Alh Audu of Nayi-Nawa ward, Damaturu, reporting that tyres and windshields from tricycles parked near his residence had been stolen by intruders early that morning,” the statement reads.
“Officers from the ‘A’ divisional police station responded swiftly, apprehending six suspects and recovering several stolen items, including tyres, windshields, and bicycles.”
