The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria police has arrested a suspect for illegally streaming MultiChoice (SuperSport) content.

The suspect reportedly acquired a domain name for the illegal streaming service.

The website is said to have garnered about 3.1 million visits globally, with over 1.2 million visits originating from Africa alone.

Commenting on the case, Frikkie Jonker, the director of broadcasting and cyber piracy at Irdeto, a cybersecurity firm, said the suspect was arrested in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on August 22, 2024.
