The police command in Lagos has arrested three “one chance” suspects in the Idumota area of the state.
A “one chance” is a type of robbery where unsuspecting passengers are lured into commercial vehicles whose occupants are robbers.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the police in Lagos, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspects held a female victim hostage after she boarded their vehicle.
He said the suspects — two males and a female — refused to allow the 23-year-old passenger to highlight at her destination in Ikoyi but drove to Idumota where she signalled the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who rescued her.

Hundeyin gave the names of the suspects as Austin Okoro (male, 47), Godwin Asezour (male, 54) and Susan Elohor (female, 42).
He said the suspects have been charged to court following the completion of the investigation by the Olayinka Egbeyemi-led RRS.
“The victim, a 23-year-old lady (name withheld), heading to Iyana Oworo from Gerard Road Ikoyi, boarded the suspects’ Volkswagen Vento salon car with registration number BDG 513 EJ but was forcibly taken to Idumota,” the statement by Hundeyin reads.

“The three suspects, while on the diversion, attempted to swindle their victim by ostensibly introducing her to their alleged money-doubling business.
“The victim, however, sighted an RRS patrol team at Idumota and successfully raised the alarm to their hearing, which led to the prompt arrest of the suspects.”
