Police arrest three suspects ‘involved in six robberies’ in Delta, recover weapons

The police command in Delta says its operatives have arrested three robbery suspects in Sapele, Sapele LGA of the state.

Bright Edafe, the police spokesperson in Delta, said on Friday that the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday by the command’s special squad deployed to Ughelli.

Edafe said the police squad acted on a credible intelligence to carry the suspect at their hideouts in Sapele town.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects include one baretta pistol, one locally made cut-to-size gun, three cutlasses, cell phones, and ATM cards belonging to their victims.

The Delta police spokesman said some victims had identified the suspects and the valuables stolen from them.

Edafe added that the suspects confessed to having been involved in six robbery operations in Sapele.

Edafe said the special squad was deployed by Abaniwonda Olufemi, commissioner of police in Delta, to checkmate rising cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, and environs.
