The police command in Imo has arrested three suspected kidnappers allegedly involved in the murder of Ikechukwu Ebelebe, a businessman.
TheCable had reported how Ebelebe was found dead in Anambra two weeks after he was reportedly abducted by gunmen at his hometown in Owerre-Akokwa, Ideato-north LGA of Imo.
His corpse was reportedly found by the villagers where it was dumped in a bush in Orumba south LGA of Anambra.
The suspects — Chinedu Christian Ejezie, 40; Okechukwu Ibemere , 26; and Emmanuel Ubah, 33; were in possession of SIM cards of different mobile telecommunication networks, allegedly used by them to negotiate and collect ransom.

In a statement on Wednesday by Henry Okoye, spokesperson of the command, Mohammed Barde, the state police commissioner, said the suspects were arrested at Ebute Ero market in Idumota LGA of Lagos.
“After his family had paid a whooping sum of N10 million, they eventually killed him and dumped his corpse at Ajali river bank in Anambra state,” the statement reads.
“Through credible intelligent gathering, one Chinedu Christian Ejezie, aged 40, who is also known as Holy Condom and Okechukwu Ibemere, male, aged 26, both of Owerre-Akokwa in Ideato-North LGA of Imo state, were arrested at Ebute Ero market in Idumota LGA of Lagos state.

“Both suspects have confessed to the crime which led to the subsequent arrest of their gang member, Emmanuel Ubah, male, aged 33.”
