Police arrest two ‘fake soldiers’ in Lagos

The Lagos police command says it has arrested two fake soldiers identified as Jonathan Yahaya and Mohammed Umar.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the command, disclosed this on Wednesday.

Hundeyin said a major in the Nigerian Army, attached to the 81 Division, Nigerian Army Provost, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought the two suspects to Onikan police division after they were apprehended.

The police spokesperson said one of the suspects was apprehended by the army while wearing camouflage trousers and black combat boots, while the other was caught wearing a Nigerian Army uniform.

“On interrogation, it was discovered that both suspects were fake soldiers. They could not tell how they got the army uniforms, hence their arrest,” NAN quoted Hundeyin as saying.

“The suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.”
