Police arrest woman for ‘locking up her three grandchildren’ in Lagos

The Lagos police command says operatives have rescued three children allegedly locked up in a room by their grandmother. 

NAN reports that Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said the children were rescued by the Ikotun police division on Wednesday.

Hundeyin, who did not mention the name of the grandmother, said she committed the crime at her residence in Agodi Egbe Ikotun area of Lagos.

He said the children, comprising a girl and two boys, are between the ages of two and four.

The spokesperson said the command received information from members of the public and deployed a team of anti-crime officers to the location to rescue the children.

“The three children are looking malnourished and unhealthy,” he added.

“The suspect was arrested, while the infants will be transferred for proper treatment and care. Investigation is ongoing.”
