The Nasarawa police command has banned the sale and use of fireworks in the state during the yuletide.
The ban was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson of the command.
Nansel said Umar Nadada, Nasarawa commissioner of police, directed all divisional police officers (DPOs) in the state to ensure full compliance and enforcement of the ban.
He said the ban becomes imperative due to the dangers that come with the usage of fireworks.

“The ban becomes necessary due to the dangers associated with it, which includes being used by criminals to create tension and carry out criminal acts,” the statement reads.
“Others are high tendency to cause bodily injuries and fire outbreaks.”
The police commissioner warned dealers and users of fireworks to comply with the ban.
