Police: Bandits kill four farmers, abduct eight in Katsina

The police command in Katsina says four farmers were killed and eight abducted after suspected bandits launched an attack at Nahuta village in Batsari LGA of the state.

 Abubakar Aliyu, police spokesperson in the state, who confirmed the attack, told TheCable that the bandits invaded the village at about 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Aliyu said the bandits attacked the farmers while they were harvesting their crops on their farms.

He said eight of the farmers were abducted but the security operatives rescued three, adding that efforts are being made to rescue the remaining five persons.

“Yes, they are potato farmers who were harvesting their crops at their farms when the bandits attacked and opened fire at them,” he said.

“Four were killed, three were injured and eight as at then were taken away but subsequently three were rescued.

“The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Saturday.

“The security operatives are working assiduously to ensure the remaining persons are rescued.”

Over the years, many Katsina communities have been attacked by bandits who kill and abduct residents.

Recently, security operatives foiled an attack by bandits on the Zakka community in Safana LGA of the state.
