The Kaduna state police command has confirmed the killing of 21 people by gunmen in Banono and Anguwan Aku communities in Kufana district of Kajuru local government area of the state.
TheCable had reported the attack, detailing how armed men in military uniform raided the communities.
In a statement, Yakubu Sabo, police public relations officer in the state, said the attackers invaded the communities on motorbikes and started shooting sporadically.
According to Sabo, three other persons were injured during the attack which occurred on Monday.

He added that the gunmen also rustled about 50 cows during the invasion.
“We received a distress call that a group of armed men in large number on motorbikes entered Banono and Anguwan Aku; both are remote neighbouring villages in Kufana district of Kajuru LGA,” he said.
“The attackers started shooting sporadically, attacking the villagers and in the process shot and killed 21, injured three others and torched ten houses.

“The bandits also rustled about 50 cows.
“A combine Team of Police Mobile Force personnel, conventional policemen, soldiers, and local vigilantes were promptly mobilised to the area, who repelled the attack and evacuated both the dead and the injured ones to hospital.”
Sabo appealed to the people to assist security operatives with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the gunmen.
“The Command appeals to members of the public to continue to assist the Police with useful information that could help in addressing these challenges and for the possible arrest of these criminals,” he said.
