The national police council has confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive inspector-general of police (IGP).
On June 19, President Bola Tinubu named Egbetokun as the IGP to replace Usman Baba.
The council confirmed Egbetokun during a meeting at the presidential villa, on Tuesday.
The council was chaired by Tinubu with the state governors in attendance.

Ibrahim Gaidam, minister of police affairs, announced the confirmation of Egbetokun to journalists at the end of the council meeting.
He highlighted Egbetokun’s impressive curriculum vitae and international exposure.
