The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has declared 12 suspects wanted over alleged terrorism, murder, and unlawful possession of firearms in Isu-Aniocha, Anambra state.
The police said it declared the suspects wanted after it secured a court order to that effect.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, in a statement on Friday, said one of the suspects, identiied as Edward Okoye and others allegedly murdered two men at a burial ceremony at Awka south, Anambra, on January 19, 2019.
Adejobi listed the names of other suspects as Donatus Okeke, Onyemazi Ngini, Onyebuchi Nwekeizu Okoye, Nonso Eboh, Chukwuka Onyibor, Chukwujekwu Anaekeokwu, Chuka Ilodigwe, Chinedu Nwoye Okoye, Nonso Awusionwu Obinna, Cosmos Okonkwo and Chukwujekwu Okoye.

The force spokesperson said the suspects are all men aged between 25 and 55.
“The Nigeria Police Force hereby declare wanted the following twelve (12) persons in connection with a case of conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, act of terrorism, kidnapping, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms, house breaking, burglary, malicious damage, and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace in Isu-Aniocha, Awka North LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria,” the statement reads.
“The suspects equally attacked and brutalised some mobile police officers detailed to restore calm to the community.

“The Nigeria Police Force therefore urges all well-meaning members of the general public to assist the police with useful information which would facilitate their arrest and ensure they are brought to justice.”
Over the past months, states in the south-east region have witnessed violent, including invasion of government facilities.
On Thursday, Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), said the force would no longer tolerate attacks on police facilities in the south-east.
