Gabriel Adaji, the commissioner of police in Adamawa state, says a total of 19 improvised explosive devices have been discovered in Yola, capital of the state.
Adaji said members of the Boko Haram sect were planning to use the bombs to wreak havoc on the state, which is one of the three most ravaged by insurgency.
He said the bombs weighed between 25kg and 30kg and were capable of demolishing a ten-storey building completely, if detonated.
“Yesterday some prepared bombs ready for detonation were discovered and they are with us,” Adaji said.

“All the bombs are locally made and contain high quantity of dynamite and Ammonium and all the bombs are 90 per cent ready, the remaining ten per cent is just to connect and detonate.”
He urged the people of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious character to the nearest security outfit.
