The police command in Katsina says its operatives have foiled a bandit attack along the Yantumaki–Tashan Icce road in Danmusa LGA of the state.

Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reports that the attack happened around 9 pm on Monday when “heavily armed” bandits blocked the road near Dorowa village and opened fire on moving vehicles.

Makama added that the gunmen shot at a red Ford vehicle and a Volkswagen Golf, injuring two passengers and abducting several commuters.

The publication noted that the divisional police officer (DPO) in Danmusa immediately mobilised operatives of Operation Sharan Daji to the scene.

“The officers engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush,” the report reads.

“The injured victims were taken to Yantumaki Hospital for treatment, while security operatives are intensifying efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims.”
