The police command in Katsina says its operatives foiled three kidnap attempts in Danmusa and Faskari LGAs.

Abubakar Aliyu, spokesperson of the command, said the police rescued eight kidnap victims from bandits during the operation.

Aliyu added that on October 7, at about 11am, operatives at the Danmusa divisional police headquarters received information that armed bandits numbering about four, intercepted two women on the outskirts of Matarau village, via Danmusa LGA.

“On the same date, the Faskari divisional police headquarters received a distress call at about 10:30am that bandits armed with dangerous weapons, blocked Marabar Bangori-Unguwar Boka along Funtua-Gusau road and kidnapped four persons,” the statement reads.

“Also, at about 2:30am, some suspected armed bandits blocked Unguwar Kafa junction along Yankara-Faskari road, kidnapping two women along with their children.”

Aliyu said upon receipt of the reports, operatives of the command were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they engaged the assailants in a gun duel and successfully rescued all the victims unhurt.
