The Katsina police command says it has foiled two kidnap attempts in Jibia and Faskari LGAs of the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Abubakar Aliyu, the police spokesperson in the state, said the police also rescued 20 kidnap victims.
Aliyu noted that after the police engaged the attackers in a gun battle, ten of the victims were rescued in the first incident, which took place along the Katsina–Magamar Jibia road on December 7.
He added that one of the ten victims rescued in Marabar Bangori along the Funtua–Gusau road in Faskari LGA sustained gunshot injuries, and was taken to the hospital.

Aliyu Abubakar, the state commissioner of police, commended the personnel for their effort. He reiterated the command’s resolve to securing the lives and properties of the citizens.
“The Katsina state police command has successfully foiled two (2) kidnap attempts in Jibia and Faskari local government areas (LGAs) of the state, rescuing twenty (20) kidnapped victims,” the statement reads.
“The first incident occurred on December 7th, 2024, at about 1900 hrs, at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina–Magamar Jibia road, Jibia LGA, where a group of armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, opened fire on a moving vehicle, attempting to abduct the occupants.

“All ten (10) occupants of the vehicle were successfully rescued unhurt.
“The victim is currently responding to medical attention.”
