Police: How gunmen killed Taraba traditional ruler in his palace

The Taraba police command has confirmed the death of Abdulmutalib Jankada, a 48-year-old traditional ruler of Sansani chiefdom in the Gassol LGA of the state.

Usman Abdullahi, police spokesperson, said the third-class traditional ruler was shot dead by gunmen who invaded his palace on Thursday.

He said the police have launched an investigation into the incident and officers of the command have been deployed to arrest the perpetrators.

“It has been confirmed that the third-class traditional ruler was killed at his palace last night. The command has deployed men to investigate the matter and bring perpetrators to justice,” the spokesperson told TheCable.

Kwache Gambo, a deputy superintendent of police, added that the incident happened at about 10 p.m. when the gunmen, who rode on motorcycles, invaded the palace and shot the traditional ruler dead.

“On 18/4/2024 at about 22:00hours, unidentified gunmen invaded the house of the 3rd class monarch of Sansani chiefdom in Gassol local government area, one Mr Abdulmudalib Nuhu Jankada, 48 years old, Jenjo by tribe and shot him at the spot,” the DSP said.

“On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Gassol division visited the scene, and one empty shell of AK47 was recovered.”
