The Borno police command says operatives have reportedly killed a suspected kidnapper identified as Garba.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the suspect was shot after he “attempted to escape while being transported to the police station, but was confirmed dead upon arrival to the hospital”.
Makana said the suspect, who has been on the wanted list of security operatives, was apprehended at about 12 pm on Wednesday in Gombi area of Adamawa state by a joint patrol team comprising police operatives and “professional” hunters.
The publication noted that the suspect confessed to being in possession of one locally made AK-47 rifle and a pistol, which were recovered by the operatives.
