Police launch manhunt for gunmen who killed five officers, couple in Imo

The police in Imo state have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who killed five of their personnel.

On Friday, gunmen killed five police officers and a couple identified as Mr and Mrs Nwagu, during an attack at Okpala community in Ngor-Okpala LGA of the state.

Henry Okoye, spokesperson of the police in Imo, said: “The command is on top of the situation, we have marshalled out our tactical and operational squad to dominate the entire security space of the state with the sole aim of arresting the perpetrators of that dastardly act and bringing them to face the full wrath of the law.”

Okoye said the public should go about their lawful businesses “without any fear of molestation or intimidation”, adding that “the command has placed adequate security measures to forestall future occurrence”.

“Well-meaning residents of the state are encouraged to join hands with the police and other security agencies in the state in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
