Police: No explosion but ‘minor fire incident’ in Lagos

The Lagos state police command has denied that there was an explosion at the Oworonsoki area of the state on Sunday.

Though Olurunfemi Shem, the command spokesman in zone 2, told TheCable that there was gas explosion, Joe Offor, the state police public relations officer contradicted Shem’s claim, saying it was a minor fire incident.

“Lagos did not record any explosion incident as being erroneously circulated,” he said.

“Rather, a minor fire incident occurred at L & K Bus-Stop, in Oworonshoki area of Lagos State at about 2 pm.

“Two were treated and discharged at a private hospital, while the third, is admitted at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi-Araba.”

The police also said that it remains dedicated to pro-active policing by putting in place measures to increase police visibility in the state.
