Police officer killed as security operatives foil bank robbery in Ekiti

A police officer was killed on Thursday, following an attack on a commercial bank in Otun Ekiti, Moba LGA, Ekiti state.

Sunday Abutu, spokesman of the Ekiti police command, confirmed the attack, adding that the officer was killed in a gun duel with the attackers.

According to Abutu, officers of the police force, the army, as well as other local security operatives, engaged the attackers and prevented the gunmen from robbing the bank.

“The armed robbers, who broke in through the security door with the use of dynamites, had no option than to take to their heels and failed in their bid to rob the bank on sighting the heavy reinforcement from the police, military, Amotekun and the local vigilantes,” he said.
