Police officer murdered in Benue

Sergeant Bawa Ekoja, a police officer in Benue state, was shot to death by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Thursday.

Confirming the incident, DSP Daniel Ezeala, the police public relations officer in the state, said the assailants shot their victims several times in the back while riding his bicycle home after closing from night duty at the police headquarters.

Ezeala said the assailants fled in an ash Camry car after committing the crime.

He said investigations into the killing had commenced, and he urged residents  to cooperate with the police to ensure the arrest of  the killers.
