The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested an impersonator who has been parading himself as a commissioner.

The police also arrested another man who had been presenting himself to the public as a lawyer.

On Monday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the command, said 12 other suspected criminals were arrested for different types of offences in the last two weeks.

He said the “fake commissioner”, identified as Emmanuel, was arrested on September 2, when he visited a police formation in the Ikorodu area of the state and introduced himself as a police chief.

“He was fully regarded as such but upon questioning, he was discovered to be an impersonator,” Hundeyin said.

“During a search in his residence, we recovered a deputy commissioner of police warrant card, an assistant commissioner of police warrant card, a Kenwood walkie-talkie, a police camouflage singlet and a face cap.”

Hundeyin added that the fake lawyer was arrested on September 4 after a complaint from the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in the Epe area.

He added that others were arrested for alleged rape, armed robbery, cultism and defilement.
