Inspector-general of police, Mohammed Abubakar, has set up a high-powered team of experienced investigators to unravel the masterminds of the bomb attacks in Kaduna which killed 39 people, police spokesman, Frank Mba, has said.
Former head of state and leading opposition figure, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, narrowly escaped death.
Prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, was also targeted.
Mba said the team of investigators, which is expected to work in close collaboration with other security agencies, was headed by the commissioner of police in charge of legal department, DCP Nwodibo Ekechukwu.

He also disclosed that on the orders of the IGP security had been tightened in all states of the federation, particularly in the states perceived to be more vulnerable to terror attacks.
“While appealing to all Nigerians, particularly Kaduna residents to remain calm, the IGP calls on the citizens to cooperate with the security agencies by providing them with relevant information to solve the crime,” the police spokesman added.
Former head of state Muhammadu Buhari and Islamic cleric Dahiru Bauchi have been said to be the targets of Wednesday’s bombings in Kaduna.
