‘Police planning to inject me to death’ — Melaye raises the alarm

Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi west senatorial district, has accused Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of Police (IGP) of planning to arrest and inject him to death.

The lawmaker made the allegation in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Melaye said officers of the Nigerian police have already been deployed for the assignment.

“There is a plan by the IG to arrest me today and inject me to death. Men deployed already. CP Kogi and others removed. Nigerians watch out,” he tweeted.

However, some of his followers besieged the post to advise him to run and climb a tree to escape the IGP’s arrest.

One Kufre Okon asked the senator to escape instead of announcing the plan on social media.

Another said, “Sir, with all due respect, you are supposed to be a “distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”. First, you were on a tree for over 12 hours and now this? Have you no dignity Sir?”

Earlier in the year, the senator accused accused Idris of withdrawing police officers from very important persons (VIPs) with the sole aim of exposing him so that he could be killed.
